Slate

For macOS · runs on your own agent

Reel scripts that never invent numbers.

Slate is a Mac app for Instagram talking-head reels. The agent you already use writes the script from your real proof. Slate checks 10 rules in code before you see it.

Slate's New script screen on a Mac: Write a reel you can shoot in one take. Product Sheen and the angle Before to after are picked, and the Write script button runs opencode read-only in an empty folder.

01 · The problem

Generic AI scripts get scrolled past.

Swipe. Gone.

Ask a chatbot for a reel script and you mostly get this:

  • ✕The hook comes too late, so people swipe in the first second.
  • ✕It makes up numbers and results you can't back up.
  • ✕It asks for camera moves you can't do on your own.

Slate turns each of these into a rule, and checks it in code.

02 · How it works

Add proof. Pick an angle. Shoot.

  1. Step 1

    Add your proof

A number, a real screen, or a person's result, with its source

  2. Step 2

    Pick an angle

Proof first, myth bust, or before and after

  3. Step 3

    Your agent writes

    Read-only, in an empty folder

  4. Step 4

    Slate checks

10 rules; one rewrite if any fail

  5. Step 5

    You shoot

One take on a stand, then edit

Slate's product editor for Sheen: name, price, the one job it does, link, and a proof list. The first item is a measured number, Audit before Sheen: 4/12 checks passed, marked verified with its source.

Every number starts here.

  • 01No proof, no script.
  • 02Mark each item verified or self-reported.
  • 03You get a Say | Edit table and word-by-word captions.

03 · The checks

10 rules. Your agent can't skip one.

  1. 01Hook text is 7 words or fewer
  2. 02A bold opener in the first 3 seconds
  3. 0345 to 60 seconds long
  4. 04A new beat about every 5 seconds
  5. 05Every number comes from your proof
  6. 06An open loop, closed before the end
  7. 07The call to action is the last row
  8. 08The price is said once at most
  9. 09Camera stays still; motion is in the edit
  10. 103 key points
A finished Slate script for Sheen: the hook This site passed only 4 checks, All 10 gates passed, a beat strip from 0 to 60 seconds with the hook at 0.5 s and the loop marked, then Copy as text, Export .md, Export captions .srt, Send to phone, the Say and Edit table and 3 key points.

04 · Proof

It caught a made-up number.

A live run with Claude Code, for a product called Sheen. Its proof had two numbers: 4 and 12 checks passed.

First try

"4 to 12. Same site, two different worlds."

Every number comes from your proof. Not in the proof list: 2.

05 · On your phone

Read your lines while you record.

Slate's Send to phone window on the Mac over a finished script: the hook This site passed only 4 checks, the line Open Slate on your iPhone, tap Scan, and point it at this code, and a large QR code.

Scan it from your Mac.

Your iPhone gets the script, a short checklist, then a teleprompter that rolls your lines while the camera records.

08 · Questions

The questions people ask first.

Which agents does Slate work with?

Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, opencode, Cursor Agent, Qwen Code and GitHub Copilot CLI. Slate finds the ones on your Mac. You can switch in Settings.

Do I pay for AI on top?

No. Slate runs the agent you already have, on your own plan. Slate hides API keys from the agent, so no key gets billed. By default Slate uses opencode's free model, glm-5.3-flash-free.

What if I have no proof yet?

Then Slate will not write a script. Add one thing you can check: a measured number, a real screen, or a real person's result with its source.

What do I get out of it?

The hook, a Say | Edit table, 3 key points, and word-by-word captions. Copy it as text, or save it as .md and .srt.

Which Macs does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer). The app is not signed yet, so the first time you open it, right-click it and pick Open.

Is there a free trial or a subscription?

Neither. Slate is one payment: ₹999 by UPI in India, or $12 by PayPal everywhere else.
